My 1st Blog Theme Collaboration with Unique Blog Designs!

9 responses, Jun 30, 2008

I’m very excited about the release of “UBD Moneymaker Theme” by UBD. I designed the theme in collaboration with them and it’s been worth while. The theme is called the “UBD Moneymaker Theme” and is targeted to the “make money online” market. I personally think it’s one of the best FREE themes I’ve ever seen with all the add-ons that they integrated.

The UBD team also integrated their own/new plugin, the UBD Block Ad Plugin to help you manage and automatically rotate your 125×125 banner ads without editing any code at all.

Here is the blog post with the release details: UBD Post

Which is even more amazing(probably just because it’s my 1st theme) is to already see the theme on blogs all over. Here are a few:

Anyway, I just want to congratulate UBD for an awesome(almost precise) integration of the design.

Back from Honeymoon…

Hey all,

Finally after 5 years with my girlfriend we got married on the 14th of June.
We just arrived back from honeymoon/holiday yesterday and the time away was excellent.
The last time I was on holiday was about 6.5 years ago so it was a well overdue time off.

We went to a place called Dikhololo and it was fantastic… for a few days. Then it got boring.
Next trip: “not in SA” :)

So far so good, the married life is great!

If you’re interested to go check out our wedding website/blog here it is: http://www.philandnads.co.za

We had a professional team record the whole wedding so when the video editing is done I will upload it to the web for you all to see and also the photos.

My latest Project…

So I’ve been busy this past 3 months with a website for a client/friend…
I’m so sick of it, yet very proud of the new version of the website.
It’s a South African accommodation comparative website with some great
web 2.0 features. We also implemented a lot of AJAX and some nice javascript features.

So we are launching in this week, meaning I can have my life back! :)
I’m very excited about this year and my new project called: moneygrowsontrees.something :-)

Me and a partner are doing it together, and I really look forward doing it with him
because he’s got an excellent mind about business and just life in general.

Here is a screenshot of design so far:(click to open)

As you can see I still have a loooonngg way to go and this is only the 1st concept even though I really like it. The website is targeted at young people, from the age of 18 to 35.
But now I’m at a point where I want to start thinking about the logo concept, I know I should have started there first, but yes, I was keen to do some designing.

I will give the URL of that accommodation website as soon as we launch. And I will most certainly start blogging more, just have to get in the go of things.

The search for a datepicker…

I am busy working on a very interesting project with a client and I have implemented some of the most unique and funkiest features using Mootools, Prototype and other javascript functionalities. We have also for the 1st time used ajax which makes the site an ease to use for any type of visitor.

Even though this website is being built in twice the amount of hours I know it will all pay off in the end.

But now my dilemma…

I need a date picker that works great!? But what is great? How does the visitor’s mind work?
Do they want to use the all to old dropdowns for year, month and date or do they want to see a calendar?

So this morning I went to my favorite web apps website called Webappers and had a look at their Calendars category and I found a few I listed below:

This one is called Calendar and runs with Mootools:

This one is my personal favorite (DateJS) because you can almost type in your date in any order:

Javascript Date Picker

Choices, choices… Well I’m gonna have to make one within the next couple of minutes…

Free Premium Theme!?

I have always wanted to code my own free theme to give away. So about a couple months back Unique Blog Designs started a competition seeking new designers but also their very own UBD theme.

Well I entered, designed a theme suiting their business’s colors and well… I won. Luckily I didn’t had to code the theme cause man, that might take some time. This theme will be published within a few weeks and I really look forward to seeing the UBD theme live and in XHTML.

I’ve moved…

5 responses, Apr 16, 2008

Hi guys,

As some of you will most probably see I have moved over to this blog and my old blog is pointing to this one. So yes, I have decided to start a more personal blog as I couldn’t really talk any private stuff on my old blog as it was targeted at a niche.

With that said, I am not saying I wont talk about that niche anymore, I just have a more open environment to talk about anything else now. Anyway, if you wondered, I didn’t move over my subscribers to this blog so feel free to subscribe again via feed.

Cheers for now!
